Katie Sanders is an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she plans to major in Urban Studies and minor in Sociology. She graduated from Newton South High School in Newton, Massachusetts in June 2008.

School’s award-winning, 32-page student-run newspaper
– Summer intern and freelance correspondent for The Newton Tab, the
weekly, award-winning Gatehouse Media newspaper of Newton,

Sanders was the female representative for the state of Massachusetts
Sanders now copy edits for The Daily Pennsylvanian, UPenn’s Pacemaker-winning student newspaper. She also writes features for the weekly campus magazine, 34th Street. She enjoys traveling, playing sports, working with young kids and reading The New Yorker. In her free time, she volunteers at National Student Partnerships, a student-run service initiative that connects West Philadelphia residents to employment opportunities, housing and public aide. She is particularly interested in social justice and hopes to one day become a freelance features writer.
